Have you ever looked at the chess pieces? Did you notice that they are like a team or a family? UME Prep is so lucky to have two well-known leaders as our senior class president, Andrew Graves, and our senior class vice-president Stephen McConnell.

As we all know Andrew is one of UME’s star basketball players, a senior, and a leader. However, many may not know why he ran for president. Andrew stated that he ran for president because he wants UME to be better for the students. Andrew Graves stated in his speech that “...electing me as your class president is not giving me a title but it's giving you a servant.” Andrew is stating that he is going to start out humble and remain humble. He did not state that he was going to be the ruler of UME Prep or that we will just have live with the events we will have now. No, Andrew Graves has stated that he is on the side of UME Prep students, and that he will be our voice.

We can’t forget about our Vice-President, can we? Stephen McConnell is also one of UME’s best scholars. Stephen is UME’s best entertainment. He always knows when the students need a laugh, and he knows when it is time to be serious. Stephan ran for class president because it intrigued him. The role of class president made him curious about what class president would do. Therefore, Stephen McConnell ran for president. Many students believed that Stephen's speech was more humorous than serious. Did you know that was his intention? Stephen stated that the senior class doesn’t care about how well you speak, but how popular you are. So, in his words he “put it to the test.” However, Stephen stated that the students should know that he will do everything in his best ability to support the students. Stephen is a mixture of both humor and seriousness. This is the best combination any student could ask for.

We have two great senior leaders working as a team for us students. That is not something you see every day, is it? 10/5/16
