Many students agree that uniforms can be very uncomfortable. We are constantly overwhelmed with homework and stressing about tests. We should be able to comfortably come to school. Uniforms also limit any kind of creativity a student would want to express through their clothing. Students should be free to express themselves with many colors in many different styles of clothing. This can be done by getting rid of uniforms and keeping a moderate dress code.

According to Scott Key, a faculty member in the Fresno Pacific University School of Education, dress codes teach students that conformity and obedience to authority are most important. Abolishing uniforms would give the students the opportunity to wear what they want and teach them to make responsible choices. Key also said, “Public schools are supposed to prepare students to participate in and contribute to American society.” UME can do this without uniforms and still keep an appropriate dress code. 10/5/16
