The holidays are usually the time of year everyone looks forward to. Christmas lights are being put up, people travel to be with family and friends, and there’s just this unexplainable joy you get from the season. If only it were like that for Alyssa.

There has not been one Christmas that her dad hadn’t ruined. As a little girl, she would fall asleep disappointed. For years, she prayed to God to allow her family to just have one night that doesn’t involve her dad getting into a fight or leaving her mom alone on Christmas with their three girls. One Christmas Eve Alyssa’s dad got drunk once again and left from their home, walking to who knows where.

Alyssa, along with her two younger sisters, cried and screamed, “Dad! Come back! Please!” as he continued to walk away.

As he was walking across the icy road, a car was passing by and the driver lost control of the wheel. The three young girls and their mother were still watching their father from their doorstep. More tears began fall from their face as they watched the car drive away and their father fall to the ground.

“A-Alyssa, I need you to s-stay here with your sisters!” Alyssa’s mother said shaking.

She watched her mother run down to her dad and fall to her knees. She began weeping into her husband’s chest.

“Daddy!” Alyssa’s youngest sister cried.

This will be a Christmas Alyssa and her family will never forget. 12/12/16
