Last week, Mrs. Brinkerhoff, a talented high school English teacher, returned to UME from maternity leave. She had a daughter over the summer and as such, was unavailable to return at the beginning of the school year to teach.

Mrs. Fowler, a dual credit teacher, willingly stepped in to substitute for her as Mrs. Brinkerhoff cared for Baby Aideen Roslyn. Now, to the delight of the eleventh graders and satisfaction of the ninth and tenth graders, Mrs. Brinkerhoff has taken her place. Last year, she had the eleventh graders as tenth graders and they enjoyed her teaching immensely.

“[Mrs. Brinkerhoff] cared… [and] made sure her students understood,” as Jose Rodriguez put it. Jacob Hubbard, a 10th grader getting used to Mrs. Brinkerhoff’s creative way of teaching, expressed the same view. “She is a really fun teacher; [one of the] very few here who understands students.”

Overall, the excitement of welcoming back Mrs. Brinkerhoff is high as students get ready for a entertaining and industrious year. 10/5/16
