This year, millions of Netflix viewers are raving about Stranger Things, a Netflix Original series. This tribute to the early 1980s is neither cheesy, nor disappointing in any way and keeps audiences in suspense, throwing them a new surprise at every turn.

Taking place in fall 1983 in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana, the happenings of this show are centered around the disappearance of a young boy, and as his family and friends begin to dig deeper into his mysterious kidnapping, “stranger things” begin to happen as they near the truth in each episode leading up to twist season finale.

    But before any of this occurs, the theme song alone is enough to get viewers of all ages hooked on the show. And as the story continues, what looks to be yet another bland TV drama instead takes on a darker, more sinister, turn that leaves fans addicted, begging for the next episode.

 

    In spite of the rush the show brings, it is impossible to place it in a genre, or stick it in a box. There are too many heart-wrenching moments among the characters to classify the show as a “Suspense” or “Thriller.” Jealousy, grief, and the testing of relationships are so tangled within the storyline that this masterpiece could just as easily be called a “Drama.” 10/5/16
