My father spent tons of money for himself during Christmas and never got anything for his family. It made me feel as if my father didn’t know what Christmas is about. We were strolling through the Christmas themed mall. There were reindeer dressed carolers and chefs cooking free meals for children. The decorations were so beautiful. I wish we could decorate, but with what?

I was watching The Polar Express when a commercial came on. Little kids were making decorations to put in their rooms. These decorations were made of paper. My father had bought me a lot of paper for a project once but I never used all of it. I decided to experiment. I went to Youtube on my father’s laptop and searched paper decorations.

There were so many ideas I could use! I made a paper Christmas tree, Christmas paper chain, and paper snowflakes. By the time I finished my origami, I had enough to fill my father's tiny apartment. It was then I realized I don’t need big fancy decorations. I don’t need to buy lights to fill the Christmas spirit. I need to appreciate what I have. My father seemed pleased by the decorations. He seemed happier. He even made a paper Christmas Tree with me. No matter where you are right now, know that there is away some spirit around you. You don’t need to buy big, fancy stuff because the fancy is in you. 12/12/16

No Need For Big and Fancy
