Many people don’t think that high school cheerleading is dangerous, but statistics show that it is, in fact, the second most dangerous high school activity after football.

Cheerleaders agree. People don’t think cheerleading is dangerous, but they haven’t been to the long practices seeing what really takes place during cheer: from trying new stunts and falling to tumbling and missing a backflip with the result of hitting your head on the ground, causing concussions.

Research shows that the high school cheerleaders are the main reason for high school spirit. They get the crowd going at games and pep rallies. UME students agree that our cheerleaders accomplish this task.

UME cheerleaders are a big part of UME Prep. Without cheerleaders, the pep rallies would be boring and the football team wouldn’t have anyone to encourage them.

The UME Prep cheerleaders are made up of an assortment of students. The cheerleaders range from grades 7th to 12th, including two male students. The cheerleaders’ purpose is to bring spirit to the pep rallies and sports events. 10/14/16
