“Hey man, a friend of mine is performing at a concert with Beautiful Eulogy on June 6th. You wanna try and go?” A long time friend of mine, Derek Odelusi, asked me this question at the beginning of May back in 2015.

 

Derek had actually got me into hip-hop when I was 12, so God snuck this one on me. At first I was questioning whether or not I should go. After a week of thinking, we headed our way to Burleson on the June 6th, 2015. In doing so, I had the best concert experience there, and at the center of this is God Himself, and He allow me to become a student in the discipleship program called 2Talented.

MaekShift Network, my multimedia company, is one that exists in order to bring people positivity throughout the future products, our brand, and our lifestyle choices in entertainment, which is otherwise dominated by negativity. A podcast is coming up in the next few weeks, and those involved will be speaking on issues that have a major influence in the media, such as politics and racism, and things that bring out the nerd in us as well. So much new music that has taken years to polish is on the way, and I am grateful for allowing that to happen with those involved in the music branch of my company.

 

Starting a business, as well as learning the ins and outs of the music industry at the age of 16, are things that I can only attribute to God Himself. After understanding that I needed to follow all of the Lord’s commands instead of trying to accomplish great things by myself and say they were from God, the good things began to outweigh the bad.

 

However, this doesn’t mean that I’m free of experiencing the cancers of this sinful world, such as temptation, racism, and disbelief. I’m just learning to rely on Jesus Christ more every day, and I’m using God’s gift to me as therapy: my words. It’s funny to me to think about how this is all a product of the Lord letting me go and make a shift in the way I network.10/14/16
